Our Summer Concert on 8th June, 2023 was a huge success. It was held at our practice room – Forget-Me-Not Club, Codsall. We opened with a welcome song – Nanuma – from Ghana and closed with Abba’s ‘Thank You For The Music’. In between we sang a whole range of songs – folk songs, spirituals, film and TV, country and western, and popular music from different eras. We were very fortunate to have our excellent pianist – Pat Lane – accompanying us and two beautiful solos from Holly and Emily. We had an enthusiastic and very appreciative audience who we treated to Prosecco and nibbles in the interval.
Christmas concerts have always been great fun. Last Christmas, for the sixth time, we took a coach up to Newport, where we joined the Newport Male Voices for their Christmas Concert in the beautiful St Nicholas’ Church. A really enjoyable event, where we take it in turns to sing and then enjoy home-made Christmas cake and wine in the interval.
We also held our own concert – ‘Carols By Candlelight’ in the Forget-Me-Not Club, Codsall – at the beginning of December. We were fortunate to be accompanied by pianist, Pat Lane, and also enjoyed excellent solos by Sarah Fletcher – flautist. A buffet with wine was served at the interval. At this concert we raise money for Compton Hospice and Midlands Air Ambulance.
We had fun, carol singing for a local community group – ‘We’ll Meet Again’ – based at Trinity Methodist Church, Codsall, and hope to sing for them again, before too long.
It’s good to see that most of our singers have come back after the pandemic and that several new ladies have recently joined. Once again, as we approach our 20th anniversary, we have a thriving and enthusiastic choir.
